A significant expansion of HE-based preparation for working life has been observed worldwide since the 1960s. This social development is also evident in Austria, as proven by changes in the annual number of HE graduations and HE graduates among the labour force. HE expansion is not simply driven by demand on the labour market, it is also always triggered by social status competition, the postulate of learning as a citizen’s right, and the requirement of equality of opportunity in liberal democracies.
Under the title “Learning for your Future”, vocational and career guidance counsellors of the Economic Chambers and Economic Promotion Institutes have teamed up with ibw to publish a brochure on educational counselling and career guidance for people with a migration background.
