  • Experts in the ICT industry (information and communication technologies) are sought to cooperate in evaluating the demands jobs make on the employee » Ehemalige Mitarbeiterin

AS part of the EU project DYNOT (“Dynamic Online Tool for Guidance”), which was initiated and coordinated by the ibw, apprenticeship professions in the ICT sector in Austria and other EU member states were described. Moreover, requirements regarding knowledge, skills and competences were deduced from existing online tools (such as www.BIC.at).

To make sure that these requirements are as relevant for practice as possible from the very beginning, we want them to be assessed regarding their relevance by representatives of the ICT industry before DYNOT is put online this autumn. That is why we are looking for people in the ICT industry who are in charge of staff matters. They will be asked to judge which requirements apprenticeship graduates in ICT professions should meet when entering work, and how important these are respectively.

  • Foreign languages education at schools and universities » Mag. Sabine Tritscher-Archan

Increasing internationalisation has been changing the circumstances for companies significantly. Sales markets and markets for personnel cannot be found locally any more; they are potentially global. Due to this development, the mastering of foreign languages has become more and more important over the recent years. Competence in foreign languages does not only open doors to new markets; it also keeps a firm competitive and thus contributes to securing the location of the company.

A survey among companies that was made by the ibw in the course of the ‘go international’ initiative of the Federal Ministry of Economy and Labour as well as the Austrian Economic Chamber, being for the first time pan-Austrian and interbranch, does not only provide insight into the present and future need of foreign languages in Austrian companies, but also contains feedback on the quality of training as well as the need for further training in the field of foreign languages.
