    Due to the great demand for the ibw’s recruitment assistance on the part of educational and vocational guidance teachers, the ibw has developed a separate instrument which can be applied in schools within the framework of theoretical classes on occupations as a preparation for job interviews. It is ideally suited for educational and vocational counselling at the school level.

  • The 2007 World Skills Competition: Austria has Europe’s second-best team » Ing. Stefan Praschl

    Two times gold, one time silver and one time bronze were the trophies obtained by the Austrian team at this year’s world skills competition in Japan. Also the ibw played a major part!

  • The ibw has successfully completed the language skills project “LaBooM” » Gastautor

     

    The 30th of November marked the end of the term of the Leonardo da Vinci project “LaBooM” (short for: LAnguages for the BOOk and Media sector). Coordinated by the ibw, twelve project partners produced excellent results.

  • Apprentices show how it works » Mag. Dagmar Achleitner

    Career guidance from a different angle: Apprentices take photos of their trade to inform those who want to start an apprenticeship about the world of work. Eligible for participation in the photo competition, which was initiated by the ibw, are all apprentices as well as apprenticeship graduates from 2007. Participation is possible until 31 December 2007 via the website www.ibw.at/fotowettbewerb.

    A merely superficial glance on job vacancies suffices to reveal that companies place high requirements on their future staff as regards specialist and non-specialist skills. Expert knowledge alone is today no longer the only criterion for a successful career. The ibw has studied this trend in a survey.

  • MEVOC lives on in the ECGC! » Dr. Monika Thum-Kraft

    MEVOC – the quality manual for educational and vocational counselling – is a practice-oriented, interactive online tool to identify and promote high-quality counselling. It was developed within the framework of a Leonardo da Vinci pilot project (2003-2006). Building on MEVOC, the EU project ECGC – European Career Guidance Certificate will be launched as early as this year. The MEVOC standards will be transferred into an ECGC exam.
